Throughout its long history, the Great Hall at Dorney Court has been the setting for extravagant parties and sumptuous banquets.

Over five centuries guests of the Palmer Family have enjoyed wonderful hospitality in a setting which retains a rare intimacy for such a towering room.  It is a tradition of hospitality which we are delighted to continue today, welcoming guests into one of the oldest parts of the House to enjoy delicious food and drink all within enchanting surroundings.

Encircled by ancient portraits and antique chests, with its magnificent stone fireplace and vaulted ceiling, the Great Hall has a special sense of timelessness.  The massive oak table which dominates the room is an eye-catching piece, hewn from one piece of oak it bears notches and scars that suggest it may been used during feasts since time immemorial.  Dining in Dorney Court offers our guests the rare chance to be part of culinary history as they enjoy an experience which has little changed in 500 years.

Guests enter the Great Hall from the main entrance to the House and are welcomed with champagne, prosecco or Dorney Court’s signature “Palmer Cocktail” before having the pleasure of exploring some of the different rooms in advance of being seated for the dinner. Our superb in-house catering team can provide a stunning banquet of exquisitely prepared traditional British food made with locally sourced produce combined with finest wines, all served by our wonderful and attentive staff.  After dinner, coffee, tea and when homemade petit fours have been served, guests will be invited to enjoy some of Dorney Court’s homemade sloe gin or ginger wine.  The perfect finish to the banqueting experience.

You and your guests will be sure to have an unforgettable evening immersed in the history and charm of Dorney Court.
